RemoteCamGo is designed to work without a RemoteCamGo account on the phone. This page explains which data is processed when you use the camera remote, gallery, history and sharing features.

Controller and contact

The operator responsible for RemoteCamGo is identified in the legal notice. Please use the contact details listed there for privacy questions or requests.

Data processed

RemoteCamGo processes random session identifiers and access tokens, technical session settings and timestamps, temporary camera previews, captured photos, recorded videos and (if enabled) audio. Reduced preview, thumbnail and watch versions can also be created. Previous Garmin versions may send a random installation identifier; older records from the discontinued PRO Preview may still contain a SHA-256-derived key and historical usage counters. No e-mail address, Garmin serial number or RemoteCamGo account is required.

Purpose of processing

The data is processed to connect a Garmin watch to the phone browser or connect two phones, show a lightweight camera preview on the remote device, remotely trigger photos or start and stop video recordings, create the session gallery and history, provide downloads and enable read-only sharing links.

Storage and deletion

Active camera sessions are short-lived. New sessions keep their photo and video galleries for 7 days after the session ends; after expiry, automatic cleanup removes the stored media and associated links. Sessions created before this change retain their already assigned expiry. Owners may delete media earlier. Older anonymous PRO entitlement records from the discontinued Preview may still exist separately but are no longer used to grant features.

Sharing links

When you share a photo, video or complete gallery, RemoteCamGo creates or uses a random read-only link. Anyone who receives such a link can view and download the shared content and may forward the link. A read-only link does not provide deletion rights. The separate owner authorization is not included in RemoteCamGo share links.

Cookies and local authorization

RemoteCamGo does not use advertising or analytics cookies. For an owner opening a managed gallery, a technically necessary secure authorization cookie may be used so that deletion functions remain available without exposing the owner token in the browser URL. This cookie is configured as Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict.

Two-phone mode and local storage

The two-phone remote stores local session history (including gallery owner access tokens, dates and optional titles) in the first phone browser. Its current session is also held temporarily in sessionStorage for recovery after a reload. A browser identifier from the former PRO Preview may still exist in older browser data but is no longer needed. The camera phone may use localStorage to remember a choice about optional review invitations. Local history entries are hidden after their scheduled expiry. Clearing site data removes the browser records, not media already on the server.

Usage statistics and server logs

RemoteCamGo may record aggregated first-party product usage counters, such as whether a session was opened or a capture was completed. These product statistics do not store IP addresses or user-agent strings. The hosting infrastructure may independently process ordinary technical server logs for security, troubleshooting and operation.

Camera and microphone permissions

Camera access is required for taking photos and recording videos. Microphone access is used only when video recording with audio is enabled. Browser permissions can be withdrawn in the browser or device settings.

Legal basis and service operation

Processing that is necessary to provide the requested RemoteCamGo functions is carried out to deliver the service. Technical security, abuse prevention and reliable operation may also require limited processing of technical data.

Your rights

Depending on the applicable data-protection law, you may have rights to information, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and data portability, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority. For RemoteCamGo media, the owner can also use the built-in deletion functions directly.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated when RemoteCamGo features, retention periods or technical processing change. The current version is published on this page.
